Pastor Siagigi encouraged us last week with a powerful sermon focusing on the Demonstrative Power of the Holy Spirit. In Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses telling people about me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and the ends of the earth.”, we know that you are endowed with power when Holy Spirit comes upon you.
This is not the same as human power. For it is by His Spirit, not by might nor by power. Meaning not by wealth, riches, or military strength, not by intellect or powerful positions of man. Man’s perspective of power is not the same as God’s.
Symbols pertaining to the Holy Spirit include fire and wind. No one can dictate or know where the wind comes or blows to. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you are empowered. You are untouchable. All you can do when the Holy Spirit comes upon you is to flow with the holy Spirit. There is a specific anointment for a specific calling, only Holy Spirit can guide you to as long as we are willing to surrender and flow with His Holy Spirit.
No Holy Spirit
- No effectiveness of the Word
- No transformation
- No fruits
When we flow with the Holy Spirit, we reap the benefits of living the Word effectively, definite transformation and bearing the fruits of the Spirit. Obedience is therefore imperative in moving to the flow of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:4-5
“Paul said it is the demonstration of the Spirit, and of Power that He preaches the Kingdom of God, not on the use of persuasive words of human wisdom. That our faith should not be on the wisdom of man but in the power of God.”
Paul made it clear accreditation for his speech and preaching is due to the Spirit. Not his own strength, wisdom (as he was a renowned Pharisee – he was intelligent), or power. It was God’s and to Him belongs the glory.
Many things of the Spirit, man’s carnal mind does not understand. It is why people step into a spirit led church and they question the shouting, the screaming, the unknown languages people speak. Things of the spirit requires the Spirit in order to understand.
Carnal mind and Ego are top hindrances we have to recognize that hinder us from flowing with the Spirit. The carnal mind manifests doubt, mockery, and disbelief. What if I’m too sinful to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit? What if I am just not meant to speak in tongues? They are crazy, no one knows what they are saying. They are faking speaking in tongues. Unless we take captive these thoughts and believe the Holy Spirit can move in you, these will always withhold you from experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit or the baptism of the holy Spirit.
Ego and pride tell you things of the Spirit are impossible to happen to you.
Not all things of the Spirit are taught, some are caught. Use the language you received in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Don’t be ashamed or afraid to use it.
Jeremiah 1:12 “Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen me well, for I am ready to perform my Word.” Ready means watching, anticipating, alert, vigilant. Perform means to do, execute or accomplish. If our God is ready to perform His word, how ready are we to obey?
As we know in the Old testament, there are consequences to disobedience. Curses tied to breaking the law and His commands.
Generational Curses – passed through generations can be found in Exodus 20:1-5. Earned Curses – Consequence of disobeying God’s Word can be found in Proverbs 26:2 and Deuteronomy 27. Some curses are a result of Dishonoring Parents – Proverbs 30:17 Some of the most common curses are Spoken curses which are powerful if spoken by those with authority over your life, such as parents. James 3:8-10 warns of lip service for worship and cursing.
Breakthrough awaits when we are freed from those curses. How to know it’s a curse? If there is a lack of cure anywhere you look, then check the Word and determine if it is a curse.
What we should do against curses?
Ask for forgiveness and renounce with your mouth (For the Word says believe in your heart and confess with your mouth).
Deuteronomy 28 says we cannot be healed of curses but Galatians 3:12-13 says Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law. All curses have been hammered on the cross with Jesus. That is our hope we hold on to. There is hope in Jesus Christ to free us from curses.
