WISDOM IS CALLING

Apostle Cruise Westerlund continued his series on WISDOM – last week (14/07/21). Over the last three Wednesday’s, Apostle Cruise has been diving into the importance of Godly wisdom by studying the life of King Solomon – the wisest and wealthiest king to ever sit on Israel’s throne.

Apostle said, “Scripture says that wisdom calls out. The more we hear the call of wisdom, the more we are likely to respond to wisdom. Wisdom comes by hearing and hearing God’s Word. It doesn’t come by watching movies or being on social media the whole night.”
“If you want wisdom you have to be at the feet of wisdom and enquire wisdom. We have to pursue and knock on wisdom’s door.”

Proverbs 8:1 – 5 –[Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?
2 At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; 3 beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud: 4 “To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind. 5 You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, set your hearts on it.]

“In this time and season it’s important for us to ask for spiritual wisdom. If we are not connected to Him we are disconnected from discerning what is right and wrong. The greatest need for our generation is discernment, which is the only way that we can counter deception.”

“If we want to counter deception, we have to have Godly discernment.”

Apostle Cruise explained how significant it was for Solomon to ask God for wisdom in 1 Kings 3:1-15. It exposed the posture of his heart and God was pleased with his request. “Solomon had enough wisdom to recognise his own inabilities. He wasn’t a little child when he had this encounter with God, he was a grown man. When you stand before God you will feel like a child. He is the Creator of ALL THINGS!”

“God knows all things – my little mind cannot be compared to His great mind. My ways cannot be compared to His great ways. There is a big difference in the thought process between the Creator and the creation. The more we think about how great He is, the more we realise how small we are.”

“Knowledge is knowing how to use a gun, and wisdom is knowing when to use it. We need an appointment with wisdom every day. There is so much that we need to learn. I believe that the Lord wants us to leave our simple ways.”

“Let’s not be that person who refuses to learn, let’s be willing to learn from God. Be willing to pursue the ways of God. When you lack wisdom you lack understanding and you will forfeit a lot of souls.”

GET WISDOM

Godly WISDOM will keep you from many sorrows and avoidable mistakes in life. It will preserve you and keep you throughout your journey in life. (Proverbs 4:5-7) If there is anything that the Word of God advises we get, it is WISDOM.

Apostle Cruise Westerlund shared a message of the importance of gaining WISDOM and asking the Lord for it. He also shared about the life of King Solomon and what he did to gain not only wisdom to rule and administer justice in Israel, but receive wealth and splendour that was never seen before or after in the land.

In 2 Chronicles chapter 1 – the Lord asked Solomon what he wanted God to grant him. Solomon had the opportunity to ask for anything he could have thought of, but he asked for wisdom and knowledge to lead and govern the people. Scripture says that God was pleased with Solomon’s request and did not only grant it, but gave him wealth, possessions and honor greater than any king before or after his time.

2 Chronicles 1:7-12 – [That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”

8 Solomon answered God, “You have shown great kindness to David my father and have made me king in his place. 9 Now, Lord God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth. 10 Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

11 God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, possessions or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12 therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.”]

Apostle Cruise said, “One of the greatest things that you can ask God for is wisdom. Wisdom is the whole package, greater than material possessions, power or honor. What set Solomon apart? It was his humility to admit to God that he needed help and that he could not rule in and of himself. He needed the Lord.

If you look at David’s son Adonijah, he tried to usurp the throne and get it in his own strength. He wasn’t God ordained and he didn’t get the blessing from the Lord.

After ascending the throne, through wisdom, King Solomon discerned wickedness in Adonijah’s heart over time. Through wisdom, he made a decision to deal with the threat to the security of the Kingdom. (1 Kings 1:5 – 53)

There is no one else in scripture who was given the opportunity to ask for whatever they wished. If God was to appear to us in the same way and ask us the same question, what would we say? Would we ask for material possessions? Money? Fame?

Now that we read Solomon’s story we know how to answer that question. If you are not asking God for wisdom, what are you asking for? Many times we are after the things, but not going after wisdom. We have got the formula wrong. God has already formulated how we can be blessed, successful and happy in life – and wisdom is a big part of that. ”

Apostle explained that we are in a generation where there is a deficit of understanding God’s Word. Many people are like ‘walking encyclopaedias ‘where they ‘know everything’ there is to know, but lack wisdom. You can be ‘book smart’ but still be a fool and lack wisdom, prudence and dignity. And we are called to steward the wisdom of God.

Many people around you may lack wisdom and will ask you how you do what you do. There will be something about you that they want (and we know that it’s the presence of the Holy Spirit that they’re sensing). Many of us have a form of wisdom but we are simply not asking for it.

Wisdom can save us from sinful lifestyle choices; it can save us a lot of money, pain, heartbreak, failure and loss. We need to dig deep to get wisdom and it won’t be easy digging for it. It will cost us time and call us out of our comfort zone. Getting wisdom will cost us a lot but it is worth it.

We can’t find wisdom on YouTube or Facebook, we find it in the Word of God. It’s one thing to read the Word and another thing to be the Word.

Proverbs 8:9-18 NLT – [My words are plain to anyone with understanding, clear to those with knowledge. 10 Choose my instruction rather than silver, and knowledge rather than pure gold.

11 For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with it. 12 “I, Wisdom, live together with good judgment. I know where to discover knowledge and discernment.
13 All who fear the Lord will hate evil. Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance, corruption and perverse speech.

14 Common sense and success belong to me. Insight and strength are mine. 15 Because of me, kings reign, and rulers make just decrees. 16 Rulers lead with my help, and nobles make righteous judgments. 17 “I love all who love me. Those who search will surely find me. 18 I have riches and honor,]
